Air Force Information Operations Center (AFIOC)partners with EC-Council to Support Mission Qualification Training
The United States Air Force's Information Operations Center is now training the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) to its IT Security Specialists. This new affiliation with EC-Council is expected to produce many Certified Ethical Hackers in the years to come, further fortifying Air Force Operations and Security. Albuquerque June 11, 2009 - The United States Air Force Information Operations Center (AFIOC) and EC-Council announced today under special provision that the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) will become a supporting element to Mission Qualification Training conducted by AFIOC to train highly specialized Information Security Professionals inside the U.S. Air Force. The Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) program and certification will provide a common foundational certification to AFIOC network security specialists and will fulfill DoD 8570.1M certification requirements for Computer Network Defense-Service Providers. The Air Force Information Operations Center (AFIOC) is located at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB) in San Antonio, Texas. The AFIOC is an information superiority center of excellence dedicated to offensive and defensive counter information and information operations. "Incorporating EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) course into our training program gives the AFIOC a validated, proven course of instruction which complements our current IT security training program," said Steven DeLoach, AFIOC C|EH Coordinator. "The C|EH is highly sought after and valued by our security professionals. As we mature the AFIOC C|EH program we look forward to possibly include several other EC-Council certification courses into our training programs."
AFIOC's team of more than 1,000 military and civilian members are skilled in the areas of operations, engineering, operations research, intelligence, radar technology, communications and computer applications. The members provide improved command and control warfare (C2W) and information operations (IO) capabilities to the war fighting USAF major commands. The AFIOC is responsible for training Air Force information operations warriors. Through courses such as the Information Operations Integration Course, AFIOC teaches Air Force members how to integrate IO as part of traditional air power employment, thus enhancing combat power. The AFIOC is also the focal point for Air Force military deception and counter-deception training and is the executive agent for Air Force operations security training.
